My mission in running this
website is to promote the use of the local Mountains and there-by
a respect for them and an understanding of the need for them to
remain wild.
This website is dedicated
to all the individuals and groups who have labored over the years
to achieve this goal, with special thanks to the individuals responsible
for setting aside these mountains as wild places, without their
foresight and vision we would not have this unique resource
Achieving the goal of respect
and understanding, the wild places is a never ending task as it
must be done in the mind of the individual, we cannot let our
guard down.
During the Clinton era discussions
on health plans the funding for trail maintenance was at a historic
low (5 million for the entire us) I thought it was appalling,
this important, inexpensive physical and mental health resource
was at our feet and was going to ruin. I resolved to do what I
could to stop the decline. Both here in the virtual world and
in the real world by working to improve the trails, the main focus
of which has been the Stone Canyon Trail, but I've worked on many
other trails including the Pacific Crest Trail, Colby Canyon Trail,
Clear Creek Outdoor Education Center, Sister Elsie Trail, Dunsmore
Canyon East Ridge Trail and Condor Peak trail to name a few.
