This Trail I'm assuming is part of a trail that was much longer some time in the past. The lower Trail Head is at Gold Creek Saddle which can be reached by hiking up from the Trail Canyon Trail trail head or hiking up Gold Canyon Trail and following the road east to the saddle. The upper terminus is at Iron Mountain Saddle on Mendenhall Ridge Road, from here you can connect with lots of other trails I generally hike 3.4 miles to the east to toward Indian Bend Saddle and take Trail Canyon Trail. I don't know why it's called a "spring" I've never seen any water in it, perhaps it's dried up, because of ground water pumping, or the "Spring" their referring to is the season, because taking this trail in the summer and early fall months is NUTS! it's hotter than Hades up there.
